Your free financial business plan
Whether you need a business plan or whether you want to create a three year budget, our free financial projection workbook will help you plan the future and present your plan in a professional format.
Although most startups only draw up a business plan when they are trying to raise finance, my view is that no business should start without one.
Remember, if you can’t even plan your success on paper, then you are most unlikely to succeed in reality.
All you need to do is download the workbook and make a copy under another name so that you always have the master. Then read the instructions on the first sheet “Read me first”.
Next you fill in sheet 2, the Input sheet. If you enter a figure in Month 1 of the Sales, Purchases or Expenses columns, it will copy across into the future (increasing by inflation each year if you have entered an inflation rate in the appropriate cell G1). If you then decide to put a different figure in say, Month 5, then that figure will project into the future from there.
The Balance sheet and Income Statement are automatically calculated. You do not have access to the formulae on these two sheets and there are some cells in the Input sheet that are locked as well. However, I have given you the unlock password on sheet 1, so you can fiddle if you are confident in your Excel and accounting skills.
If you need a full blown Business Plan, you’ll need professional help. It’s not expensive and it is very comprehensive.
