We only use a small part of our two story office building in Midrand and have committed the remainder to Gallagher Combined School which opened in January 2016. Our CEO has been made the Patron of the school in recognition of this and we are please to be able to add that we have made a significant donation of furniture and stationery.
The school is a Non Profit Company and is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation at SARS.
The classes run from Grade R to Grade 8 and will gradually move higher to Matric although the senior school will need to be housed in a separate building.
Apart from the usual extra mural activities and sports, the school teaches the Japanese abacus which produces phenominal mental arithmetic capabilities. The children learn to use the abacus for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and whilst learning it, they also learn to picture and manipulate the abacus in their heads. Watch what some kids can do.
In addition to the compulsory Japanese abacus, the higher grades also study Robotics to help prepare them for an unknown technology based future.
